Family, Fun, and the Fair

We arrived home Thursday night at 12:00 central time. It was a good drive home. We have found that driving while the kids sleep is the easiest way to travel.

We had a busy trip to Georgia. Friday night we celebrated my mom's 50th birthday. I planned a surprise party for her and we spent several hours hanging out with her friends and family. Her actual birthday is tomorrow, October 18.

On Saturday we met Jim's family at the Perry Fair. There were 19 of us herding around the fair grounds. It was so fun. For those of you that don't know me I LOVE THE FAIR!!! I didn't get to eat everything on my list, but I did get a Granny's Apple Dumpling. YUMMY to my TUMMY!

On Sunday, Jim started a revival at Heritage Baptist Church in Douglasville. The boys stayed with my mom Sunday and Monday. I went back to Warner Robins to go to Dr. Alex Bell. This is a totally different blog entry. I then brought them back to Atlanta for the rest of the week.

We stayed with Jim's parents and commuted to Douglasville every night. Sunday through Wednesday was very long and exhausting.

It is nice to be home. We enjoyed seeing family, but it is nice to be home. We can't wait to be at Crosspointe on Sunday.

Here are a few pictures from our week in Georgia.

Of course, Mema was on the phone....

Fun at the Fair
This is a picture of seven of the cousins.
Hot mama and Dan the Man....
The boys LOVED this slide. Judd would just cackle all the way down.

Rabun was very interested in the fair. I am sure that it bored her since she was there everyday:-)
Isn't she adorable?
This is the buddy system at work. Thank you girls for all of your help.

Tennis Ball

I just loved all of the comments concerning the tennis ball. However, it doesn't look like we have a real answer. I do believe a new tennis ball is optic yellow and I am starting agree that it may look green once it has been used for a while.

Just like Jim commented, the madness ensues... I wonder who will win the kiddos over to their side. I guess I need to start singing tennis balls are yellow to them every night.:-)

Once and For All

Jim and I have this on going debate in our house. We can't seem to agree on the color of a tennis ball.

Let me ask you: Is a tennis ball green or yellow?

Who's the Boss?

Jim and I are so proud of Judd. He is almost 22 months old and he is becoming a chatter box. He really didn't say much until after the tubes were inserted and healed. It is truly amazing how much he is saying. Jim said the other day "I think that Judd is learning new words every hour." In his newly found language skills, he has become somewhat expressive of his opinions, some people call it bossy. I would like to share a dialogue that I overheard between Jim and Judd.

Judd came running up to Jim. Judd is looking up at Jim with his arms stretched high.
"up" "up" "da da"
Jim picked him up. Usually we would have made him say please but it was early and we were still trying to wake up:-)
"out" "out" "out" as he was continuously pointing to go outside to see the cat
Jim's response in a kind, fun, yet firm voice: "Judd man you are not the boss. Daddy is the boss."
Judd replies "no me boss"

Don't you just love them!

5 month update

My baby girl is growing too fast. I cannot believe Anna Kate is already 5 months, almost six months, old. She is such a blessing to our family. She seems to be growing and doing everything so much faster than to boys. As of 5 months, she eats cereal, she rolls over both ways, holds a bottle on the occasion that I give her one, graciously gives smiles and kisses, she has starting rocking on her knees acting as if she wants to starting crawling, sleeps until 7 on occasion, and my least favorite, her first tooth broke through last weekend. Yes, teeth. I can't believe I only had five months of the beautiful toothless grin that melts my heart. As I type, she is very fussing because the second tooth is trying to break through. :-(

I am scared to blink because she will be walking, talking, and blowing out her first candle.

all is fair in love and football

When God moved us to Tennessee He allowed us to live in this great house and He even decided to bless us with wonderful neighbors. We love their whole family but they just happen to be Alabama fans.

All day Friday all of our kids played together and as we left to go home we discussed and imaginary line that wold be drawn between our yards Saturday morning. Neither one of us, wanted to go into enemy territory :-) My last words before walking in the house Friday night were, "I should paint a white line down the middle." Well the is what we woke up to on Saturday morning....
The black line was added by Jim later in the day. (just in case you are wondering, they painted in their yard not ours)

Just to through salt on the wounds, we came home from church on Sunday to find a Alabama flag on our rocking chair.

Did I really start this off by saying we love our neighbors??? :-) Yeah, we do! We enjoy good old fun!

Lessons Learned Through Laryngitis

It is interesting how the Lord is answers prayers.

I have been praying that I would be more intentional in my training of the boys and really try to teach them. I think one way in which I struggle is by yelling from one end of the house or raising my voice to get their attention. The Lord is quick to convict my heart, as soon as I do it I know that I should have gone to them and looked them in the eyes, spoke the direction so that I knew they understood what I needed for them to do. I can give many excuses as to why , but I think it is best described by saying, this is one of those Romans 7:15 moments,"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." I know that the Lord is working through me, but He has chosen an interesting way of teaching me this week.

I AM LOSING MY VOICE....

I am now forced to walk to them, knell down, look them in the eyes, speak softly and clearly. I must ask myself, "Self, why don't you do this every time?" God is growing me and everyday I need to remember that I have to decrease self and He must increase.

However, speaking softly is hard when Judd is in the neighbors yard playing and I think he is going to run into the street. I am sure I sounded like a dying cat tonight screaming JJJJUUUUDDDDDDD! either way it got his attention:-)

Gas vs Diesel

This morning while we were waiting for Jim at church Jake went into Anna Kate's class to visit with her and her teacher. A few minutes later several of the preschool ladies were laughing very loudly. One came and got me and told me to go talk to Anna Kate's teacher because she had a story to tell me.

Here's the story:

Sally (name changed to protect identity):-), Anna Kate's teacher, was holding Anna Kate and she began to smell something. She said "Anna do you have a dirty diaper" and after completing the one finger diaper check she realized Anna Kate was still clean. She then said, "Anna Kate did you have some gas." Jake said "huh" so Sally being funny looked a Jake and said " Well, Jake did you have some gas"

Drum roll....
Jake said "No, I have diesel"

Will you be my friend?

I can't believe I now have a Facebook. I think this is SO Funny. I am not sure how much I will do with it, but it is an interesting thing. How weird is it to "ask people to be your friend?" I don't remember the last time I had to ask someone to be my friend. Will you be my friend? "check yes or no."

Time to update...

WOW! It has been awhile since I last posted. I have so much to say, but I have been a busy lady chasing the boys around and feeding Anna Kate.

Last weekend Nana came to stay with us and help Jim take care of the babies while I went on a Women's Retreat with some of the ladies from Crosspointe. I had a great time on the retreat. I loved hanging out with the ladies and hearing Priscilla Shirer teach the Word.

I came home on Saturday afternoon and we decided to let Nana give Judd his first hair cut. He did very well. Here are some pictures of my big boy.

"Comment Me" a Memory

This was on my friend Kate's blog so I thought I would play along:
Who's going to be my friend and play along:

Comment Me A Memory.....
Come on, take a moment to think. (You know you want to.)
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

My Boys and Tubes

My day started at 4:15 am. Jim and I got up and prepared to have the boys ready to leave for the hospital at 5:00 am. Today is the day we have been looking forward to for six weeks. Both of our boys were scheduled to have tubes put in their ears at 8:00, and of course that means we had to be at the hospital at 6:00 am. Could someone please tell me why you have to be there 2 hours prior to your scheduled surgery?

Both of the boy's surgery went very well. We dreaded the nurses taking them to the OR but they both walked away with the nurse and neither one of them cried. It was so great! Here is a picture of them walking around in their gowns. Aren't they adorable!

This is Jake playing with his mask while his is waiting to go back.

This Jake walking back.

I must admit recovery was the hardest part. The nurses called me back for Judd and he was very confused and upset. He didn't stop crying until he got cup of ice.

Jim went to get Jake and he was crying and complaining. They both have minor infections so they are on one more round of antibiotics. Hopefully, this will be the last for a while. Even with the difficult recovery I must admit the whole experience wasn't as bad as I thought it would be after talking to people.

They slept for a few hours when we got home and after lunch they were running around like "my boys."

Summer Vacation Part 2-Jackson Lake

We arrived at Jackson Lake on Saturday. Sunday morning Jim preached at Rock Springs and we had some friends come visit us. It was great to see the Cleghorns and the Biebers.

We spent the rest of the week on the lake riding the jet-ski, in the boat, or just hanging out the all the babies. It was a wonderful vacation.

Here are a few pictures from our time at Jackson Lake.

101

This is post 101! I can't believe that I have posted 101 times. That isn't a lot compared to many people, but I think it is a good milestone to celebrate. I think that I am going to try to make my blog into a blurb at the end of this year. (Hint: This is a good Christmas gift idea:-))

Have a great day! Thanks for reading all of my 101 posts!

By the way, I have 101 posts and 352 comments! I wonder how long it will take me to get 500 comments???

Summer Part 1-Elko

I can't believe that summer is coming to an end. It seems like school was over just last week and now all of the kids are going back tomorrow. I am amazed at how quickly time flies.

This is a recap of the Perdue summer.

July 3 we left and went to Georgia for vacation. We spent a few days at my mom's in Elko and then we went to Jackson Lake to spend some time with Jim's family. We loved being home and seeing our family.

These are pictures from the few days in Elko. My dad and aunt came over one day to take the boys fishing. It was hot and the fish were not biting so it wasn't a good experience for them, but I had a great time.

Spot

We have a new cat. We picked her up two weeks ago. We have a mole problem in our back yard and we hope that she will get them. Jim named her Spot. She is an OUTSIDE cat. Jim and I aren't cat fans, but we dislike moles more. Actually, Spot is very sweet with the boys.We are trying to teach them that when she meows it is not a good sound, but prrrrr means she likes what they are doing. It is a hard concept to grasp especially when meow is so funny. So far we know that she can swim and that she doesn't like to hang by her tail.....

Going Out: Covered Up but not Made Up

Last night Jim had a late meeting and I needed a few things from the store. I never go to Kroger, but they had Chicken on sale so I decided to pick up my needed items and some chicken breasts. Around 5:30 I packed the kids up and off we went. Did I mention that I had on a hat, t-shirt, jean capri pants, flip flops, and NO make up. You know that you have experienced those days that you hope you can make it in and out of the store without anyone seeing you, this was one of those days:-0 (Yes, I am sure you know where this is going)

Well, I get all of the babies in the cart and walk in Kroger. I was in the produce section discussing the proper way to behave in the grocery store with jake when, you guessed it I saw someone I knew..... We smile wave and I just chuckle thinking how hilarious I look with all of these children in Kroger. Several aisles later I see some one else I know, then some one keeps staring at me and I think maybe I know them too, then I see two more ladies that are picking up a few things before dinner. WOW! I am starting to think everyone was at Kroger. I love seeing people out, but I would prefer having looked a little more presentable.:-)

As a mother of three children ages three and under, make up and hair don't always make it to the top of the list everyday (most days). I can't promise that I will be made up, but I do believe that God desires for us to be covered up. I believe that modesty should be a desire of all women and that mommies and teenage girls need to honor the Lord in the way we dress. Summer is always hard especially when it is 106 degrees, but just like I used to tell my high school girls on youth retreats, if it isn't for sale then you shouldn't be advertising it.

Watermelon Fun

Last week some one in our church gave us two watermelons. I cut them up and then I let the boys eat the rest on the front porch. They had so much fun. We all LOVE watermelon! We have several watermelon plants in the back yard. They are finally growing two watermelons. I will post pictures of the vines soon. They are huge.

Anna Kate didn't want to try watermelon this year:-) Maybe next!

Are you a Lurker???

Calling All Lurkers!!!

I was reading someone's blog the other day and came across this idea. I enjoy lurking! I like to visit sites that are linked to my friends blogs, but then of course I sometimes click on links that are linked on there and so on. It can be a never ending maze.

I'm just wondering if anyone out there that has never posted on my blog (that I may or may not know personally), but frequents my blog to catch up on my life would be willing to post a comment below. I would love for you to make yourself known :)

I'm interested to see who you are!!!

Let's see if we can beat my highest number of comments. We must get 17 in order to beat the 16 comments I received when Anna Kate was born.

Standards

Tonight I was in the attic and I came across the standards that I wrote in July of 01 for the man I was going to marry. I had dated a couple of guys since becoming a Christian and I felt that I really didn't have any standards for the man God wanted me to marry. Over the course of several weeks, I prayed and this is the list of standards that I felt encompassed the man that God wanted me to marry. I knew that I would never marry a man unless he met all 31 standards without me telling him the standards. I had come to a point in my life where I was tired of mediocre and I wanted God's best and I was willing to wait forever. Jim and I met October of 01 and the rest is history......

2. Spiritual Leader/Willing and Wanting to Teach Me
3. Gentleman

11. Slow to anger
12. Country yet conservative (adventurous yet romantic)
13. Likes to travel
14. Has a sense of humor
15. Loves His Family
16. Adores Me

Dear Lord,
May I be all that I am committed to desire, and may I never settle for anything less than your best. May I fulfill all of theses standards. May I prepare to be the person I want to marry. Lord, help me to see only with your eyes, think only with your mind, and love only with your heart. I have given you my heart to do with what you please. May I never have it back until the appointed divine time. Lord, help me to remain pure in character and stay focused on YOU. Make me a woman of excellence in Your time. No matter what it takes!! I love you, thank you!!!
Because You Loved Me First,

18 months

My baby boy, Judd, turned 18 months on Saturday. This was an emotional day for me. It is hard to believe that he is growing so fast. He brings so much joy to our lives.

Juddman, this is for you

You are hilarious and so much fun. You always wake up with a smile. You smile lights up a room and your laughter is contagious. It is fun as you intentionally do things to make us laugh. Lately, you have been “singing” your favorite songs, Washed in the blood and I’ll Fly Away, at the table while we are eating. Most people wouldn’t recognize I’ll Ba Ba Ba as I’ll Fly Away, but you are doing an amazing job. Your dad and I enjoy watching you play independently especially with cars and Jake’s trains, but still your favorite “toy” is our phone.

I think we should name you little Spiderman, you are climbing on everything Every time I turn around you are climbing on the couch to get the phone, climbing in your chair to tell us you are hungry, climbing up the end table in order to jump on the big chair, and now you climb into the bath tub at random times because you would like to play in the water.

It is hard to believe but you have gone potty a couple of times which is very exciting. You just clap and wave bye-bye as the toilet flushes. I am sure this is all pure luck based on good timing, but still.

You love to do everything Jake does. Brush your teeth standing next to Jake on the stool is one of your favorite activities. Riding Jake’s tractor, reading books like him, sitting with Jake on the couch and playing in his room are more ways your try to be like Jake.

I enjoy watching you kiss Anna Kate and try to put her pacifier in her mouth when she is crying. You are already spoiling and protecting her when you aren’t trying to sit on or tickle her.

You are fearless especially in the pool swimming. We put a lifejacket and swimmies on you while you are in the pool and you LOVE the freedom to swim around. You are quick to jump off of the diving board to daddy. You will come to the edge and count holding up one finger, 3free, 3free, 3free and then jump.

Whenever we mention the word “book” you run to get your Little People flap books, touch and feel pony books, or your Bible then stand in front of us and back into our laps so that we will read to you. It is so precious! Currently you have three signs and 20 words that you use regularly, although many are animal noises your verbal skills are increasing everyday.

You are QUICK to run from mommy and daddy if you know that you are going to be disciplined. You usually run with a concerned look on your face, but other times you laugh hoping we will do the same.

This week will be another milestone. We are taking away your pacifier. You only get it when you sleep, but you LOVE it. This was the hardest transition for Jake, even harder than potty training, so I am expecting a long week with little sleep.

Lastly, we are taking you to an allergist and an ENT in a few weeks. You have reoccurring ear infections and it is time to figure out the cause and solution. We have been praying and will continue to pray that your little ears will stop getting infected, but we need to take steps so that we can stop giving you antibiotics every month.

I love you, Judson Hunter and I wish I could hold on to this precious time. . and that you would stay this age forever! I know that you will continue to grow and we pray that you will be the man God wants you to be. Our prayer for you has always been to love Him with all of your heart and live for Him without regrets

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father’s Day to the love of my life!
I am married to one of the best dad’s in the whole world. He loves his family and he loves being a dad. He truly enjoys every minute. He sings silly songs and has silly nicknames for the kids that make them laugh. Most importantly, he loves his boys and wants to see them love Jesus more than anything else.

Jim, thank you for your faith and how important it is to you to share it with me and the kids. Thank you for loving us in so many ways. Thank you for coming home everyday always ready to play “dead gorilla ,“roll them up”, have devotions with our children, or just enjoy a nice afternoon in the water. Thank you….

Yes, we did get Jim a tie this year, BUT he also got two suits and a shirt. He wore one to church today and I must say that he is a fine looking man! **we took pictures, but they didn't look so hot***

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad
Thank you for always loving me, your princess. Thanks for being such a great listener. I have always been able to talk to you and I always knew that you would lend an ear whenever I needed to talk. You have always worked so hard to give me everything I need and just about everything I wanted. Bad thing or not, I was spoiled. At least I recognize it, right? Thanks for the past three years. I am so glad that you are apart of our life. My boys love Papa Wayne.

Happy Father’s Day to Benny (a.k.a Mr. Brown)
Thanks for all of you love, support, and encouragement through the years. You are a great step-dad and I am thankful you are in my life. Thank you for your advice and your willingness to serve others. Thank you for investing my family. We love you, Sweet Papa.

Happy Father’s Day to Mr. Sonny
Thank you for your son. I want to say thank you for the teaching him to be a godly man, to love his wife and family, to work hard, and most of all thanks for teaching him to love Jesus. Thank you for loving my children and being such a great Big Buddy.
