A Day at the Park

It is hard to believe but it was in the upper 60's yesterday. We enjoyed the day outside. In the morning we went to the park. The kids enjoy going to the park and I enjoy taking them so it is a perfect match. I love the warm weather!

Jake Turns 5

Is it true? Can it be? This morning I opened my eyes and my first born turned five.....

Here are a few pictures from his party and his birthday. He wanted to have a Georgia Party so we ordered a bulldog cake. Ms. Arlene and Mr. Warren at did a great job. Once again, Jake wanted to have a pool party with just a couple of kids. This year Mema and Papa were able to join us for the festivities. He was happy that they were able to come up.

HaPpY VaLeNtInEs DaY!

Valentines Day in our home is very different than in most homes across the nation. It really doesn't exist.

Jim and I decided before we got married to pretty much ignore the whole day. We have just forgotten about it. Jim is thankful that he doesn't have to rush out on Feb 13 at midnight to buy me a card, way to expensive flowers, and candy that I probably don't really want.

What we do celebrate is how much we love each other, but we do that everyday. Marriage isn't proclaiming your love one day a year, it is being consistent the other 364 days a year that really show how much you love your "valentine."

1. When was the last time you served your spouse? Love acted out is serving
2. Love your wife so she knows you’d lay down your life for her. Continue to date her and admire her. Share a hobby-find something you can do to have fun together.
3. Love is laughing often
4. Are you patient? Does your love crumble quickly under the weight of unmet expectations
5. Do you spend more time trying to fix yourself than your spouse?
6. The Bible says, “Do not let the sun go down with you are angry.” Love is forgiveness.
7. Have you determined that divorce is not an option? Love is commitment.
8. What is your spouses love language? The love languages are fairly simple: acts of service, time, physical touch, gifts, and words of affirmation. Learn them.
9. Words of affirmation are a love language for all men.
10. Men will lead when given the chance. He cannot lead unless you give him the confidence to do so. If you love your husband, build him up. Confident men do not seek love outside the home.

These are not original ideas but ones that are always good to hear again especially on this day of love.

s"NO"w Fun!

Once again we woke up to snow a covered yard. This was my Facebook status
"Jake just said, "It has snowed three times and it is not Christmas." Jim said, " The novelty of snow is really wearing off." Stephanie says,"I like snow in Georgia. It only happens every couple of years!"
What do you think? Do you like the white stuff?

Judd goes to the dentist

Today Judd went to the dentist for the first time. He did really well. I was proud of him. He was a little nervous but he sat still and opened his mouth. He did start getting frustrated when she was brushing his teeth. He did not like the texture of the toothpaste but he loved Mr. Thirsty, the suction. His first visit was a success.

It is really hard to believe that he is old enough to go to the dentist.

Winter is snow much fun!

Last Friday it started snowing...and it snowed...and snowed... and it didn't stop until Saturday at noon. When it finally stopped we were covered with 9 inches of snow and ice.

We spent the next four days stuck in the house because all of the roads were covered with ice. We even canceled church on Sunday because the parking lot was a huge block of ice.

The kids enjoyed it somewhat but not nearly as uch as they did in March. The ice made it harder to play with and make snowmen. Jim took the boys sledding the first day and they enjoyed sledding down the neighbors hill but that we pretty much the extent of our snow fun. However, my big boy Jake thought it was lots of fun to shovel snow and ice.

This is our house around noon on Friday!
After enjoying an afternoon nap, Jim took the boys back outside to play with the neighbors.
Anna Kate DID NOT like standing on the snow!
Judd enjoyed making snow angels again this winter.
This is Judd sitting on a sled that is being pulled by a 4-wheeler. Are we redneck?
Once again the boy is eating snow! This is his yearly tradition!
Look at that hard worker. He makes me proud!
Look at his snowman. He was so proud!
Finally, I was able to get one picture of the three of them in the snow. This was the best one.
Finally, the baby girl started to enjoy the white stuff....

Hope is the Word

Hope is the word which God has written on the brow of every man.-Victor Hugo

My word for 2010 is HOPE!
When we learn to rest in the Lord and place our hope in him, we find a peace and comfort sweeping over us. We need to change our way of looking at things. Our hope is in the Lord. God’s help is sufficient. We need to learn to place our hope in him. He will not fail us.

"The LORD is my portion," says my soul; "therefore will I hope in him." Lamentations 3:24

"For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe." 1 Timothy 4:10

I am sure to share more verses with you throughout the year.

You know hope is my word for the year but lately I feel like I am being torn between hope and simplify. Maybe I should be hoping to simplify!!!

Facebook Memories

These are some of the funny quotes of the day posted by husband who does Facebook or Blog anymore. I just wanted to keep a record of them.

September 23, 2009 Jim Perdue Anna Kate just picked her purse up, put it on her shoulder, waved at me and said, "bye." I almost cried because I realized that one day that will really happen.
Jim Perdue Judd just walked up and gave me a penny; then he said, "Keep it for God!" I love that kid!!!
September 12, 2009
Jim Perdue I'm taking all three kids to town by myself. Brave or stupid? We'll see!
Jim Perdue When Stephanie was gone on Saturday, I took the kids to town all by myself. I survived! This is how. When they have food in their mouths they are much less likely to scream.
July 4, 2009
Jim Perdue SOOOO proud of my wife! She did awesome running the Peachtree Roadrace this morning. Set her sights, worked hard and reached her goal!
May 23, 2009
Jim Perdue When my kids are teenagers I won't be able to drag them out of bed this early! But I'll be so old by then I won't be able to sleep in.

November 23, 2009
Stephanie Perdue was told in the car by Jake that "I don't work and that Daddy does all the work." I asked, "Do you mean I don't go to work?" "Yeah, Mommy you don't do anything." I guess being his mommy isn't much of a job. :-)

2010 Marathon Challenge

In 2009, I really worked on developing an area of my physical life that I never thought was possible. I NEVER thought I would be 30 years old and running a 10k in July much less a half-marathon in December. Throughout my training especially when I was training alone, I would think about the shape of my spiritual life. I would compare my dedication to running to my dedication to the Lord. For example, do I eagerly anticipate getting up at 6:15 to spend time reading the Bible like I did when i was running this summer. (I say summer because I didn't not enjoy running during the winter. Not a good comparison).

This year I have decided to take on another challenge but this year will be a spiritual marathon. I am going to read through the whole Bible this year. I have chosen to read through in chronological order. Jim and I are doing it together and it has been a lot of fun.

I will keep you updated on how well we are doing throughout the year.

Jake Loves Everything Georgia (Football)

Tonight at basketball practice Jake's coach was handing him a blue and white basketball and he said that he wasn't allowed to use that one. I happen to be looking that way and she mouthed to me "Why isn't he allowed to use this one?" Confused I said "he is" and I looked at him and said "you can use it." As the words were coming out of my mouth he said "but it has Memphis Tigers on the side. I can't use it." I got tickled and his daddy did a double fist pump into the air. "That's my boy!"

All of this Go Bulldogs is music to our ears. For the past year, Jake has been anti-bulldogs, anti-UGA everything. He was so bad that he would pull for any team that played UGA. We really couldn't understand why he did not like them but we did not make a big deal unless he was being disrespectful or obnoxious. We think that he was so anti-UGA was because everyone would pick on him and he didn't understand that it was all in fun.

Something happened, during Thanksgiving break. We went to Georgia to visit family and the night we were driving back he could not wait to get home to watch Georgia play Georgia Tech but the best part was he wanted Georgia to beat Tech. We couldn't believe what we were hearing. Was this the same boy that would cry any time we asked him to wear his UGA shirts, was this they same boy who completely rebelled when we bought him a very cool UGA jersey. Yes it was, so of course he was allowed to stay up way past his bed time to watch the Bulldogs win. It was so funny to watch him jump up on the bed when the scored, high five when they made a great play, and get mad when they made a bad play. Ever since that night his favorite color is red, he only wants to wear Bulldog clothing, and he LOVES to watch football. He loves Georgia Football but he has become a bit obsessed with watching all football. He eats all of his meals in 2.5 seconds if he thinks a game is on. He will run into the room and check the score. This is a very fun season in his life, one that we are thoroughly enjoying with him.

Lowe's Barber Shop

While we were visiting my mom the week after Christmas Jim and I decided to take the boys for a special treat. We took them to get their hair cut at a barber shop. Not just any barber shop, Lowe's Barber Shop in Warner Robins, Georgia.

This is the same barber shop that Jim went to when he was a little boy with his granddaddy, Ernie. When we walked in Jim said, "still looks the same. same three guys are here."

The boys were able to get there number and then wait for it to be called.
It was a fun experience for them. They thought it was really cool to get their hair cut the same place that their Daddy and Uncle Dan got their hair cut when they were little. Lowe's has now cut hair for four generations of Perdue men.

Yes, Dan, I know that you still get your hair cut there.

As you can tell we didn't worry about brushing their hair before taking them to get it cut.

Judd was a little nervous so he sat on Jim's lap. The really cool part was the vacuum that are attached to the clippers. The vacuums suck all the hair as it is being cut.
I totally forgot to take the after wards pictures. Duh!

All Dressed Up For Christmas

This morning I wanted to take pictures of all our family before church. Jim helped me get everyone ready a little early so we could snap a few pictures before leaving. One day I am going to learn how to do the self-timer and then we will get a family picture.

Things got a little crazy after taking so many pictures!

Jake Playing B-Ball

Jake started playing basket ball this month. He is enjoying playing but he tells us he likes soccer better. He will probably change his mind before the season ends. It is a lot of fun watching them play.

He does not try to shoot very often but he is always trying to get the ball away from the other team. We are proud of the way he is playing. Although, he is a little to aggressive for the 4-5 yr old team.

Judd's Party and Birthday

We celebrated Judd's 3rd Birthday on Saturday, December 12. Since he was three this year he was allowed to invite three friends. We had a fun time with boys running around, eating pizza, cake and ice cream. Judd was very appreciative of the gifts he was given. He is still enjoying all of them daily.

I snapped this picture before I went to bed. His last night in his crib.

This morning after breakfast Judd was able to help Jim take his crib apart. He is officially a big boy sharing a room with his brother. He is beyond excited.Once we had the crib in the attic (sniff, sniff) we took Judd outside to see his birthday present. A BIKE! He loved it. He now has his very own bike to ride with Jake.

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Pictures in the Park

When the weather was still nice we tried to savor every wonderful day. We spent several days at the park. These are from two different days. I just love these pictures.

Just a few more...
